They call it Four Vines, but actually three people came together to make the winery happen.  First, there was San Francisco winemaker Christian Tietje, who is passionate about wine and bringing it to people to be enjoyed.  Next, Tietje partnered with Susan Mahler a scientist with an interest in vineyards.  Together they created the winery featuring appellation-specific Zins and one Chardonnay and the out-of-the-ordinary names they would be called. The two relocated to the Paso Robles area and found the third piece of the puzzle: Bill Grant, a successful entrepreneur who joined the partnership in 2004.  When they relocated to the Paso Robles area they began experimenting with Rhone varietals.  Grant travels the country introducing the wines to new audiences and will make that introduction to the members of WINO and the Spanish Hills Country Club.
