I am delighted to announce that WINO is celebrating a big 35th Anniversary with a special friend, Ken Brown.  Ken Brown Wines is a small family winery focusing on Pinot Noir from the Santa Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley.  Brown, one of the pioneering winemaker of this area, focuses on small lots of Pinot Noir from the finest vineyards of the Santa Rita appellation, including Cargasacchi, Clos Pepe and the historic Sanford and Benedict Vineyard.  Many of us know Brown from his early days at Zaca Mesa Winery and have been to his very special Byron Vineyards where he was for over 20 years.  He and his lovely wife Deborah accompanied us when we took that great cruise to the Caribbean that began with a trip to New Orleans.  Now Ken and Deborah make up the staff of the winery and enjoy the close relationships with their customers.

We will back at the Marriott in Oxnard and are welcoming a new member of their staff, Executive Chef James Smith.  Chef James comes with great credentials from the Ojai Valley Inn and has crafted a special menu to match these vintages.  Ken Brown will be imparting special insight into his wines.

At about 5:15 p.m. we will put a bottle of sparkling wine on the tables for a toast.  You can either sit at your table or get up and socialize for 15 minutes, then the speaker will be introduced.

Because of a special menu and wines for this occasion the price changes for this month.  Checks, Members $75 and Guests, $79, made payable to Jeanne Bartlett should be sent to 1358 Saddleback Trail, Camarillo, 93012.  Checks should arrive no later than Wednesday, July 7.  NO refunds after that date unless space can be filled from a waiting list.  Single members may bring one guest at member price.  Please call if your check will be late.  If you need to cancel, let me know, as there may be someone waiting to take your place.
