The Malibu Hills Estate Vineyards are situated at an elevation between 1,450 and 1,510 feet with a 1,600-foot ridge to the west creating a unique microclimate in the hills above Malibu.  George Rosenthal, a successful entrepreneur in many fields, first planted vineyards at his 250-acre estate in 1987.  Rosenthal did his homework first, checking soil and weather to make sure the varietals were planted in correct locations.  With cool breezes from Newton Canyon in the evening and warm sunny days the hillside vines are thriving.  There are even small size vineyards able to produce individual lots of Cabernet, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.  Those wines, as well as Chardonnay, are featured at many fine restaurants. Winemaker Christian Roguenant strives to bring out the unique terroir of the vineyards.  Neil Mc Nallly, CWE, Director of the Malibu Estate, will be with us to give a special insight into these vintages.  Executive Chef Robin Nishizaki and Patrick Kolanoski, General Manager of Eric’s have designed a menu to showcase these wines.
