Margerum Vineyards, Happy Canyon, & Buoni Anni
Sunday November 13, 2011, 5:30 p.m.
We will be experiencing something different at this WINO by trying wines from several vineyard estates with one thing in common: they all share the same winemaker, our speaker for the evening, Doug Margerum. Margerum Vineyards produces a limited amount of wine from grapes grown by top growers. The M5 we will be drinking is made in the Chateaneuf-du-Pape style using five grape varietals from the highest quality vineyards in Santa Barbara County. Happy Canyon Vineyards is nestled in the undulating hills of the beautiful Piocho Ranch, home to the Barrack family. The Barracks have taken great pride over the years in being stewards of the land and along with their wine maker have created something that is unique. Piocho is a Chumash Indian word meaning “where the two rivers meet and go to heaven.” Jamie & Julie Kellner of Buoni Anni have made a commitment to Sangiovese because of their passion for classic Tuscan wines. The estate has been planted with numerous clones of Sangiovese and it also sources the wine from the Santa Ynez Valley. Patrick Kolanoski, General Manager of Eric’s, and Chef Nick Gust have produced a menu to showcase these wines.
