Castoro Cellars
Sunday, September 12, 2010, 5:30 p.m.
The last time WINO hosted Castoro Cellars was September, 1990. Just think of all the changes to the world and to our own lives. We are fortunate that in the middle of crush Niels Udsen will be here to tell us about his superb wines and Castoro Cellars. When last we talked to Udsen, he and his wife Bimmer sourced their grapes from many vineyards. As more and more vineyard owners established their own wineries, causing a shortage of fruit, Castoro decided to initiate its own vineyard development. (I’m sure we will hear more about Hog Heaven and Blind Faith). The Castoro tasting room is located just off Highway 46 West in Templeton. The winery is in located in San Miguel. Udsen is not a stranger to to this part of California as he was born and raised in Ventura and we welcome him back. As you will see below, Chef James has done an excellent job of matching wine and food.
