Baileyana Winery
Sunday, August 7, 2011, 5:30 p.m.
Baileyana Winery is located on a picturesque knoll overlooking the Edna Valley of San Luis Obispo. Since 1998 the Niven family, owner of the winery, was a viticultural pioneer in the valley. Baireyana says there are nine words that sum up the philosophy behind its wines: Old World-inspired, surpassing New World standards, sustainably grown. This was the vision of Cathraine Niven, founder. Now the second and third generations continue this dream in conjunction with Christian Roguenant, its Burgundian-born and educated wine maker. Roguenant’s wines are in sync with the vineyard and varietal in the Old World tradition, but he still creates modern wines. It is important to note the winemaker accomplishes this with grapes grown in a sustainable manner for moore than three decades. Elena Scully of the Niven Family Winery will be with us to give a special insight into the vintages.
