Take Your Valentine to WINO!!
Adelaida Cellars is known for intense, high quality wines. The winery is located on the west side of Paso Robles, at an elevation of 1,800 feet in the Santa Lucia mountain chain. It was founded in 1981 and is owned by the Van Steenwyk family. The vineyards are located on a wild and rugged mountainside of limestone and calcareous shale. We will be hearing from winemaker Terry Culton, who believes that “these characteristics cause the vines to strengthen, which in turn lowers the yield but produces more intensely flavored fruit.” Besides the Estate vineyards, Adelaida contracts with two principal estate properties and we will be tasting wines from both sources. For this event we will be at the Kitchen in Oxnard. Our hosts there are Connie Moreno and Lydia Galbraith. The ladies tell me the room will be decorated for Valentine’s Day.
